The protagonist, Hiroki Majima, learns of the death of his first love—Ryoko Tokiwa, a woman who later rose to fame as a popular idol. Though Ryoko once confessed her feelings to him, Hiroki, confused and overwhelmed, turned her down. He has lived ever since with regret, unable to stop thinking: If only I had accepted her back then, maybe she would still be alive… maybe things could have turned out differently. The story begins when Hiroki is suddenly transported back to the very day she confessed to him—in the early Heisei era, 1997. Thrilled at the chance to relive his lost youth, Hiroki feels a rush of excitement… But what awaits him is a grim, decadent mission steeped in tragedy and forbidden desire.
